Subject: White House WWW site put on SurfWatch block list by word "couples"


There is an AP story out of Los Altos CA this morning about how the
SurfWatch Web site screening software automagically put part of the
White House (URL http://www.whitehouse.gov/) home pages off-limits
because text on the White House kids page spoke of Billary as well as
Al and Tipper as "couples" -- a word which apparently has some sexual
connotation...??  (What about poor Fred Couples, the golf pro?)

This bizarre blocking came to light apparently after a  youngster sent
E-Mail to a White House computer operator to complain about not being
able to view the White House kids Web page.

The girl's parents had installed the SurfWatch on her computer.

The company has fixed the problem.
